Trip Overview
Our “Day of the Dead” ride offers participants a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in one of the most representative Mexican traditions.
Participants will explore this cultural treasure through horseback riding and active participation, providing a deeper understanding of why this tradition has captivated audiences worldwide and inspired international fashion and films.
Beyond this, participants will experience the warmth and hospitality for which Mexico is renowned. They will sample diverse dishes from Mexico’s ancestral gastronomy, savour premium tequilas, enjoy mariachi music, and ride through historic sites, heritage cities, magical towns, and villages rich in legend.
Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy Mexico’s ancestral drinks and dress as catrinas. Accommodation throughout the trip will be in comfortable and authentic accomodation.
This horseback journey delves into the heart of Mexican culture, offering a chance to explore its most important treasures and traditions, which are inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

Travel Itinerary
DAY 1
Sunday 26th October: Rancho Las Palmas
Meals: Dinner
Activities: Settling in, Welcome Dinner
Arrival at Rancho Las Palmas accommodation. (Details will be provided prior to travel.) 17:00: Official welcome and check-in. Horse assignments. Welcome cocktail and delivery of the welcome kit. Welcome dinner and programme presentation.
DAY 2
Monday 27th October: Atotonilco - Dolores Hidalgo
Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner
Activities: Sightseeing, Horse Riding (Day 1)
We begin our journey at the Sanctuary of Jesus of Nazareth, a World Heritage Site featuring
stunning 18th-century Mexican Baroque murals. From here, we will ride along the Camino
Real de Tierra Adentro, an ancient royal road central to Mexico’s colonial history.
Participants will enjoy a picnic at a historic property pivotal to the independence war, and ending our 29km journey at the hotel in Dolores Hidalgo.
DAY 3
Tuesday 28th October: Dolores Hidalgo - Los Quiotes
Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner
Activities: Sightseeing, Horse Riding (Day 2)
We explore Dolores Hidalgo, a significant site in Mexico’s independence history. Afterwards,
we’ll ride through the Valley of Cactus, stopping for lunch amidst breath taking semi-desert
landscapes, ending our 23km journey at the hotel.
DAY 4
Wednesday 29th October: Los Quiotes - Santa Rosa
Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner
Activities: Horse Riding (Day 3)
We continue through oak and pine forests, passing historical mountain communities. Our
destination is the quaint village of Santa Rosa, nestled in the Sierra Central mountains. We finish the 31km journey at our accommodations in Santa Rosa, with an open bar to relax and recharge.
DAY 5
Thursday 30th October: Santa Rosa - Rancho Colomitos
Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch, Dinner
Activities: Glamping, Horse Riding (Day 4)
Riding through “mystery villages” enriched by Chichimec culture and mining history, we’ll
cover 31km to reach Rancho Colomitos, where our glamping accommodations and open bar await our arrival.
DAY 6
Friday 31st October: Rancho Colomitos
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Themed Dinner
Activities: Glamping, Catrinas Workshop, Horse Decoration, Parade
Participants will get ready for the festivities with a catrinas workshop to make their outfit and decorate their horses with alebrije designs. We conclude the day with a parade, open bar, and themed dinner.
DAY 7
Saturday 1st November: Rancho Colomitos - Guanajuato
Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Activities: Sightseeing, Guided Tour, Festivities
Transfer to Guanajuato for a guided walking tour, exploring the Day of the Dead traditions,
theatrical performances, and city decorations, ending with an overnight Hotel stay in Guanajuato.
DAY 8
Sunday 2nd November: Guanajuato City
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Taco-tasting Dinner
Activities: Sightseeing, Museum Trip, Festivities
Visit the Museum of the Mummies and explore the UNESCO-listed city of Guanajuato.
Highlights include the “monumental offering,” “El Tapete de la Muerte,” and the “La Catrina
Vive Festival.”
DAY 9
Monday 3rd November: Guanajuato
Breakfast at the Hotel, marking the end of your trip.
